Piper Todd Self Portrait
Oil, 16x20
This project is titled “Piper Todd” because it was my last self-portrait before I got married and became Piper Campbell. I know that human lives are valuable because we are made in the Image of God, which is a huge reason that I love to portray people. I believe art is important because people were made in the Image of God, with the ability to create because God creates.
I painted this self-portrait live in front of a mirror; I love to paint people from life, and I was an available model. I was inspired by Pre-Raphaelite works for the color palette to achieve cool tones in the skin and drapery, contrasting with the warm brown tones.
